His wider coaching background spans grassroots clubs, school rugby, senior teams and leadership positions as a Director of Rugby. Mike has also helped lead teams to league and cup success. Mike continues to develop his coaching through regular professional development and opportunities to learn from experienced coaches working at the highest levels of the game. He is DBS checked, Insured, Qualified , safeguarding trained and committed to providing a safe, positive and inclusive environment. At Masters Rugby Performance, we believe great coaching is about more than producing better rugby players. It should build confidence, encourage resilience and give young people the freedom to make mistakes, ask questions and challenge themselves. For us, performance does not simply mean being the best. It means helping every individual become more confident, capable and motivated than they were before. Building better players, confident young people and a lifelong love of rugby.
Masters Rugby Performance was founded by experienced rugby coach Mike Masters with one clear purpose: to provide positive, purposeful coaching that helps young people grow through rugby.
Mike previously coached full time with Northampton Saints, delivering rugby across schools, community programmes and player-development environments. He continues to coach within the club’s Foundation Phase the entry level of the academy pathway, previously known as the Developing Player Programme (DPP).
Before moving into coaching, Mike played representative rugby for Suffolk and Eastern Counties and was selected for Northampton Saints’ Developing Player Programme as a young player. This experience gives him a strong understanding of the game from both a player’s and a coach’s perspective.
